| Twelve elements are slid together all at the same time. The result is very stable sculpture that cannot be taken apart anymore! The way the pieces are connected is in fact based on the old traditional "mortise and tenon joint". Because of the 12 different slide directions (each element has to slide in exactly the right direction and with exactly the right speed) it is practically impossible to disassemble this piece. Putting it together however is fairly easy. Each of the 12 elements seems to have a natural tendency to slide to centre of the imaginary cuboctahedron, which is the basic structure of the sculpture. |
